Listening Pitstop: On religion and violence

Karen Armstrong, a prolific scholar of religion, discusses the relationship between religion and violence. She presents interesting and lucid arguments that the so-called ‘religious’ violence that exists stem from reasons other than religion itself. She begins by reframing the concept of ‘religion’ that, she argues, operates in most religions other than Protestant Christianity.

It’s a long podcast (more than an hour), but very very worth the time. You don’t have to agree with her, of course, but acquainting yourself to an (intelligent) alternative point of view can only benefit you.
